Where I’m From Poem

I’m from chimney stacks to rooftops,
From flats to houses
To askin’ my granddad
How the Grouse is.

From a jumper to a chiamara
And my very first camera,
To learning the French for ‘stamp’
Oh, by the way, it’s ‘timbre’.

I’m from kilts to tortilla,
And haggis to morcilla
And having gone through it all
I couldn’t feel more me...ah

I’m from Friday night parties
To the Sunday school preacher,
To where I am today
Your very own teacher.
