MY NEW ENGLISH ASSISTANT, LYDIA
My new English assistant is called Lydia. She is 22 years old. She was born in Fairfield, Pennsylvania, in a very rural area. Her house, which used to be a "bed & breakfast", is surrounded by mountains, forest, farms, fields...
She comes from a really big family: she has two brothers, four sisters, one niece and one nephew. She also has a dog called Luna, which is a BorderCollie and Australian Shephard Mix.
Lydia is good at languages, and she speaks English, a bit of Spanish and she used to speak Slovak.
She went to Hood College in Maryland and studied "Global Studies". She chose that degree because she wanted to become more aware of problems we have nowadays such as politics, refugees´ crisis, migration...
There were just 1,400 students at her college. University in the USA is different from here. For example, when students go to University there, they usually stay and live in the campus during all the degree, while in Spain it is more common to live at home and then go to University as if it was at school.
Her favourite hobbies are going hiking and watching movies, especially about adventures. She also likes reading, watching sports, playing badminton, going out with friends and listening to music. She likes rock and roll and electronic music. However, she hates country music and rap. The book and film she likes the most is "Pride and Prejudice"
She also loves travelling. She has visited: Poland, Austria, Hungary, Italy, South Corea and Spain. She travelled to Sevilla two years ago to study.
She is willing to work with us, and she expects us to improve our language. I think I´m going to learn a lot with her this year, and I´m really looking forward to start!
