MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christmas is time for family celebrations but also for reflection an relax. People like singing carols, sending Christmas cards and giving gifts. How do you celebrate?

Happy Thanksgiving

As you know, Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in the USA on the fourth Thursday of November. Our assistants have been talking to you about the history of this tradition and you have learnt some vocabulary about typical food for the feast. We have also been doing some crafts such as the " turkey hands" and I want to show you some of them to wish you "Happy Thanksgiving".

WHAT DOES HE/SHE LOOK LIKE?

Second graders made these posters for the class using the "collage" technique. They describe different physical features and the rest of the class will guess who is the character all the different things cut out
belong to. The result is great.

THE DIARY OF A WIMPY KID

Jeff Kinney was born in 1971 in Maryland in the USA. "The diary of a Wimpy Kid " was first released  in 2007 and soon it became a bestseller. Now he is the director of an Internet publishing company. He lives in Massachusets with his wife and his two sons.

OUR ASSISTANTS IN 1º.E

This year we have two assistants for our English class. They both come from the EEUU but from different parts and they are here after having finished their studies at University. My students have already had a class with them and after having a long interview  we have found out  many things. Read these articles to get to know Moira and Charleen.

                                 

                                           MOIRA

Her full name is Moira Casados Cassidy. She is 23 years old. She has got four siblings who are called Camile, Emilia, Jennifer and Riley. Her parents live in Colorado and she can speak Two languages: English and a bit of Spanish. She loves Spain and one of her favourite places in Madrid is Parque del Oeste where she likes to go for a walk.

Her favourite book "A hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel García Márquez. Her favourite subjects are English, maths and art. Her favourite sport is Lacrosse and she loves rock music . She plays the guitar and she has played in two bands called "Christie and the Cremes" and "Warm Cube". When she was 17, she wrote a song and her dream is to be a writer and to become a famous rock star one day.

She likes Spanish food in general but specially "Patatas bravas". She also has some lovely kittens.

CHARLEEN

Charleen was born in London but all her family are from Jamaica. She moved to Georgia inthe EEUU when she was 5 years old.

                                                               

Some of the traditional dishes in the South are maccaroni and cheese, blackeyed peas and fried chicken.

In Atlanta the weather is very hot. If you go there you can visit the Coke museum and the CNN.

There are some stereotypes, for example they say people in the south are stupid but this is not true. Julia Roberts is a famous actress from Georgia.

She has three siblings; Darryl is twenty, Ronet is eleven and the youngest is London who is 10 years old. Her mother´s name is Sylvia and his father´s name is Ronan.

She plays basketball and she plays the piano, too. Her favourite colours are black, red and yellow.

She likes public transportation in Spain and one day she wants to be a doctor.
